Social Media Networking & Other Methods May Help The OUYA

By Rob Sutter

There do come times when I am wrong and I am more than happy to admit when I have made a mistake. Sometimes I have predictions in mind and they may not be the best in the grand scheme of things. The OUYA, for example, was an Android-powered console that I thought would be something excellent but more and more initial first impressions leave me inquisitive. Could social media networking be amongst the tactics used to help the system pick up the steam that it seemed to have initially?

The initial news of the OUYA struck me and I thought that we had a cool, niche console on your hand as a result. While the systems of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are here to stay, it's clear that there's room for more. Without another platform coming out, I would have imagined that the OUYA would have a comfortable place as a fourth alternative, especially for those who don't want to spend as much. One has to wonder, though, about the future of the console, online marketing playing a role or not.

I think that when the prototype was brought to the early backers, there was more negative press about it than anything else. There was trouble buying items online, which is bad enough considering that there's no physical software associated with the system. However, the hardware also proved to be a problem, the controller in particular not being quite as sturdy as it should have been. The OUYA, as you could imagine, is not off to a tremendous start and there has to be work done in order to make it better.

Social media networking is definitely one field that the OUYA can benefit greatly from. The reason that I say this is because while firms like fishbat comprehend this idea, not every company is going to be able to see the benefits associated with it. The console clearly has potential but it has not been realized for one reason or another. There are changes that have to be made to it from a physical standpoint as well, which is a field that I hope is going to be modified.

I still think that the OUYA can be a fun console but not until some alterations are made to make it better. The hardware is one vital point that deserves to be modified, more specifically the controller and keeping it together. It's also possible that the interface could use some changes, more specifically making it easier for players to navigate. These are simple matters on the surface but who knows just how much time these would need in order to be modified?
